This Fairtrade and Organic Chinese green tea from Anhui Province is grown in the same gardens as Singlo, one of two green teas tossed into Boston Harbor on December 16, 1773. Soft on the palate, this high-grown is similar to modern Chunmee green tea.

The three ships raided in Boston Harbor on December 16, 1773, contained 342 chests of Chinese teas, including 60 half-chests of Singlo green tea. Singlo originated in the Singlo (Sung-lo) Mountains of Anhui Province. Singlo was a superior grade of tea, which the East India Company needed to move out of their London warehouses before it spoiled.

It's a shame that this tea was thrown to the fishes. It would have been one of the best cups of tea to ever pass a colonist's lips - if they didn't put boiling water on it!

Steep like a tea professional and never use boiling water on green tea. 165-175F is optimal.
